Please VOTE FOR ME!

  • Jan. 14th, 2008 at 2:21 PM
Please take the time to vote for my painting on the Saatchi Gallery website. Please forward to your friends for voting if possible. It's an online competition with monetary awards and possible exhibition in NYC. So please take the time to vote for me. It just takes one click, you have to click a number from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest score possible) Thanks!

Also, I no longer use this journal URL - but thought I'd post here in case someone didn't notice that I've moved my journal over to jmculvergallery.wordpress.com

Thanks!

A move over to wordpress.com

  • Dec. 10th, 2007 at 11:47 PM
I've decided to not move to blogspot but to move over to wordpress.com. It is by-far the best blogging site and is independently run which I definately support.

So please visit my new permenant blog address and bookmark it.

Thank you!

"Anxiety Dreams" upcoming exhibition

  • Dec. 7th, 2007 at 7:21 PM
I am one of the five artists selected for the upcoming exhibition "Anxiety Dreams" held just outside the Altered Esthetics Gallery.

The opening reception is on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 7pm - 10pm.
The exhibition show dates are January 31st through February 28th, 2008.
Location: Just outside of the Altered Esthetics Gallery, 1224 Quincy St. NE, Minneapolis MN 55413

My large scale charcoal & acrylic drawing "Altered States" from my Conjured Memories series will be shown.

I think they are also organizing an artist's potluck and will be an artist's discussion panel that I'll take part in.

I'm excited. This is the first time I'll be exhibiting this drawing, which is the first of the series.

I'll post more info. at end of January. :)

I'm back blogging...

  • Dec. 6th, 2007 at 10:22 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am back posting on my blog. I have been extremely busy with moving to a new home and art studio in East Saint Paul. It seemed to take forever to unpack and organize the house. I am still working on making my art studio more efficient as well.

I recently participated in the MCAD Art Sale, which was very successful this year. I sold 17 of my new paintings in just two days! I am getting ready for another smaller art sale at the Belfry Art Center. I just heard of this art center and am exciting to be participating in their 2nd annual art sale.

I am working on a series of small oil paintings and watercolors for this upcoming sale. I will post more details shortly. I am also working on a potential jewelry line to sell in my etsy shop. I am trying to decide whether I should have one etsy store or a separate one for the wearable art.

I'm also debating if I should move this blog back over to blogspot.com for now on. I'm not happy with the layout options at livejournal and the advertisements on the page. I don't want to pay for a page without advertisements either.

I originally moved over to livejournal because I felt that there was a broader audience compared to blogspot. Blogspot has a cleaner layout and is easy to use.

If I do decide to move everything over, I will definitely post the notice right away.

Help finding ART GALLERY Software

  • May. 30th, 2007 at 12:33 PM
I looked up specific "Art Gallery Software" last night. I actually found a huge list, but most were for very large museums and galleries and over $700. I then found MasterpieceManager - which would be PERFECT - even though it is $195 - BUT it is only for PCs. And I have an older MAC. :(

I then found, ArtworksPro - but since I have an older MAC it won't work on my computer. It is only $39 and creates slideshows of your artwork to present to clients as well.

SO - after many hours of looking around - I found Flick! from arawak.com. It is free and almost fully functional. Only the print options and some of the report options aren't enabled until you pay $20. Which is definately affordable.

Although Flick! doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for. It does allow for creating inventory of my artwork with 5 images each and is linked to client information. I think I can use this for now.

I'd like something where I can also enter projection information, commission information, create invoices, calculate down payment options, tax sheets, and more sales report information available.

Maybe there is something ebay specific that I could use? Although I'm selling artwork from ebay and etsy, and from galleries and from my studio.

Although if anyone finds any software that is "Art Gallery" specific and is under $200 and is for a MAC. Please let me know

Thank you!

Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who showed up at the "Ephermality" one-night show. It was great to see everyone talking about art and was a fun time.

Right now, I'm submitting my artwork to some more local galleries and hopefully will have another fun show coming up soon this summer. I will keep everyone posted here on my blog.

If you haven't had a chance to checkout my artwork for sale online, you can go to JMCULVERGALLERY.COM and JMCULVER.ETSY.COM

I'm going to work on some graphics and banner ads for my artwork soon.
But for now I have to concentrate on finishing some paintings in the studio, submit to art galleries, submissions to some competitions, and continuing listing new artwork on ebay and etsy.

I do have new artwork to list. I will list them this week.

JMCULVERGALLERY.COM

  • May. 9th, 2007 at 7:11 AM
I bought a couple more domain names this morning. I went ahead and opened a new eBay store and bought a domain name that will redirect you ---STRAIGHT--- to my eBay store for convienence. And it's also easy to remember. So, just go to: jmculvergallery.com and you can view my eBay store.

I'm also working on a layout design for my "portfolio" website, which I also bought another domain for. I want to keep my professional selective portfolio (jmculver.com), my ebay store (jmculvergallery.com, my etsy store (jmculver.etsy.com), my blog (jmculver.livejournal.com), and my (soon to be) extensive art portfolio (jmculverportfolio.com) separate from one another - but to still link to each other.

I don't want buyers or galleries to be confused when visiting my websites - so I feel that it makes sense to have separate websites for what the person will be looking for when visiting my site. I don't want a visitor to have to go through my blog and 500+ images of my extensive portfolio - if they are only looking for my eBay Store or if they were just looking for my current professional portfolio.

I still have some more work to do, but eventually it will be all up and running well! I'm on my way.
